Sony Ericsson's profits fall 97%

This news cannot be good for the smartphone market. Sony Ericsson's Q2 profits have fallen by a whopping 97%. The company knew their profits would fall in the second quarter but nobody predicted a 97% drop. The company has been placing their hopes in the upcoming Xperia X1 Windows Mobile smartphone but they'll need much more than one device to pull themselves out of this one. Nokia introduces Chat with location sharing

Currently in beta, Nokia's Chat application integrates with your contacts and allows friends to see others locations. A German supermarket chain has introduced a new way to checkout your items. In the new chain of stores, customers can pay for their purchases with a specially adapted mobile telephone. Sprint to sell off assets

According to Bloomberg, US cell phone carrier Sprint may start selling assets to help improve a bad situation for the company.
